25th birthday celebration at husk

Yesterday was my 25th birthday! Adam and I had a low key dinner together at Husk in downtown Savannah. Husk just recently opened their new location here, and this was our first visit. I’ll write more about my birthday (and my quarter life crisis, tbh) in a future post, but for now I wanted to recap our dinner at Husk and share my thoughts on the new hip place to grab a meal downtown.

If you are fortunate enough to get a table at Husk (we had to make our reservation weeks before!) be sure to order the shrimp and grits. I love shrimp and grits and order the dish regularly. Husk has the absolute best shrimp and grits I have ever tasted! Seriously, I’ll be dreaming about the dish until my next visit. I don’t have the culinary vocabulary to describe how delicious the food was, but WOW.

My other favorite aspect of dinner was the Citrus & Skins specialty cocktail. It is currently my favorite cocktail I’ve ever had, followed closely by the shrub at the Rabbit Hole in Sydney. I have to admit I actually didn’t care too much for my entree (I ordered the swordfish). There was nothing wrong with it, I just don’t care much for poached fish. I ended up trading with Adam and ate his steak, which was wonderful. On our next visit, I think I will actually order the shrimp and grits as my entree – it was that good!

Our waitress brought out two glasses of dessert champagne on the house for my birthday. She was so sweet! I will never turn down a glass of champagne (which does get me into trouble from time to time). We enjoyed our champagne over the Tennessee Chocolate Sundae because no birthday is complete without chocolate.Β It was unusual in the best way. Adam in particular loved the peanut butter flavor, but he loves all things peanut butter! The dessert was the perfect subtle blend of chocolate and peanut butter without tasting too rich or too sweet.

I highly recommend Husk for a special night out in downtown Savannah! It will definitely be our go-to restaurant for celebrations and occasions together.

10 registry items you actually need

Adam and I both say that moving in together is one of the best decisions we made in our relationship. Even though our first home together in Atlanta was lacking in many ways, nothing quite compares to having your own space and making your own rules as a couple for the first time. We didn’t

snow day on wilmington island!

It snowed in Savannah for the first time in something like 30 years, and everyone pretty much lost their minds. Every single piece of firewood in the whole Savannah metro area was sold out by the afternoon before the predicted snow storm, and the grocery store was laughably empty when I went out to buy

wishing you all the best in the new year

Another year has come and gone, and 2017 was the first full calendar year Adam and I spent together. Someone once told me, “How you spend the New Year is how you will spend the rest of your year!” and that couldn’t be more true for us in 2017. We rang in 2017 together in

One of my favorite things to do with Adam is visit lighthouses! Throughout college, Adam visited dozens of lighthouses along the east coast and developed something of a hobby. He carried that love of lighthouses into our relationship. During our first big trip together back when we were dating, Adam took me on a tour

We just finished our first full week as Savannah residents and we are loving it! Our house is finally starting to come together, even though my to-do list of weekend projects grows longer every day. Now that we’re here to stay, I’m ready to get into the big projects that felt too time-consuming in Atlanta,

hiking half dome at yosemite national park

This past Labor Day weekend, I had the fantastic opportunity to travel to California and hike Half Dome at Yosemite National Park with my buddy, Connor Paton. Originally, Connor and I worked together and even though life has moved our careers in different directions, I still count him as one of my best friends. So,

our very big announcement

I’m so excited to finally be able to share our big announcement…Later this month, Adam and I are moving from Atlanta to Savannah! We’re trading traffic jams for sandy beaches and skyscrapers for palm trees. While we love our life and cherish our friends in Atlanta, we are ready for more space and a slower
